It Is a Play Day!

Oh goodness, do you realize how long it has been? Back in 2003, Mike helped me first define what a blurker is:

Blurker (BLUR-kur): n. 1. One who reads many blogs but leaves no evidence of themselves such as comments behind; a silent observer of blogs. 2. One who reads many blogs but has no blog of their own; a blog-watcher or blog voyeur.

So I’ve declared today and international playday. And I know people won’t see this, so lets just declare all the way through this Sunday a sort of playfest. Like the Superbowl of Blogs. Cheer on your favorite bloggers. Let them know you are reading. Give them your support. Leave as many comments on blogs as dollars are spent on Superbowl ads.

Oh, ouch. I hate to think of how much money is wasted on Superbowl ads. Maybe that isn’t a good idea.

Comments though are a GREAT idea. Don’t be a blurker. I promise, it doesn’t hurt at all. Matter of fact, it will feel good. Try it. Leave a comment. And if you write about this, be sure to trackback me too! (Props to Jay Lee for the suggestion! And thanks to Charles for helping to spread the word!)

I think my failure to comment regularly has to with my rather demanding philosophy: “if you don’t have nothin terribly riveting or hilarious to say, don’t say nothin at all.”

Hi Christine. We bloggers do like our comments. Are you knitting tomorrow?

@daysies - You did. I still think you’re making that up though. ;-) Plus for awhile there, I was so completely offline it doesn’t count. Mike can verify, I get exemptions for all of October, November & December. Not fun times then at all.

Thanks everyone for the comments so far! I’m making my way around. As a bonus, I got to send an email to Sandi! I’ve missed you, Sandi!!!

I saw my comment on your post from 2003. Apparently we went out that night, too!!! Ah, the days when I used to be social!

Even for you, it is tough for me to come out of blurkdom, but I’m making the big effort.
Claire has the FLU, so no knitting group again tomorrow.

De-blurking again. I only comment when prompted or inspired. How lame is that?!

I am typically standing up and on the run when I read. But here I am — HELLO!

I admit … I’m a blurker. But I don’t like to leave comments just to leave comments. I want to actually have something relevant to say.

I also wanted to thank you for mentioning twirl in one of your tweets. I’ve become addicted to twitter … LOL. So far, I’m really liking twirl.

I always silently lament that I don’t get comments, but I’m one of those who reads a lot and comments little. I comment in spurts, and promptly forget where I commented… so I don’t follow up.

Christine lives by her words, though. She commented on my site for the first time in a bit over 2 years. I’m returning the favor. ;)

And just to show that I’m stalking her, I immediately “followed” her in Twitter.

Hi Christine! Great idea!

I’d try it on my blog but I get NO traffic so still wouldn’t help bring me comments.

Can you add a link to me and I you our my site? That may help traffic since you get traffic here.

Still blurking. Don’t bloggers get annoyed by comments from non-bloggers? I enjoy reading blogs, gossip and news but have no desire to maintain a blog or personal website.
