The Must-Knits for Spring 2007?

Posted on April 24, 2007 by Christine | 5 Comments

In just over a week I’ll be flying east to go to Maryland Sheep & Wool with Mac and Adelle. Off to the land of fibery goodness. And as I plan my trip, I end up feeling the same way I always do before I go anywhere with knitters…

What should I make to wear?

Of course, this is somewhat unreasonable, as I have about a week to make something. The only time during the week that I will have anything that resembles free time is my flight to Philly. Knitting something this fast? Probably not too likely. But maybe you know something I don’t know? Maybe there is some speedy knit out there, the “must have” thing of the spring? You know, like Fetchings were this past winter? I cranked them out fast. Surely there must be something out there? Ideas, anyone?

Would it possibly be cool enough that I could get away with wearing a sweater? I could finish the sleeves for my green Four Play (mmmm… Brooks Farm) sweater and wear that. I could do two sleeves in a week, I think. Hm… I’m definitely going to be wearing one of the t-shirts I designed, so there will be knitting related wear if nothing else. (I’m going to design another one – “Life’s too short to knit with ugly yarn.” Teehee!)

OH! If you’re going – Blogger lunch meetup at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday! Thanks to Chris for tipping me off to that!

Hopefully I’ll get to see you & Mac; we’re planning on going down on Saturday, but I’m allergic to big meetups so will be giving anything that looks like one a miss.

Natalie – do you still have my cell phone #? Just give a call on Saturday and I’ll accidentally/on purpose run into you!

Christine – the way things have been going, it’s doubtful that it’ll be cool enough for sweaters. Granted, I did wear a cotton cardigan last year in the morning.

That is awesome news! I can’t wait. I’m sure that Chris (skittermagoo) has filled you in on the details, but basically I’m one of the Dallas folk that’ll be up for the festival, too!

    See ya’ there.

Oh, and last year Saturday was beautiful (warm and sunny), but Sunday was much cooler and windy. Still a bit much for Four Play, but it couldn’t hurt.

    The trip sounds wonderful!
Do you know of any Houston or Texas spinners that sale their yarn on Etsy or some other place?

Just remember that Maryland weather can be unpredictable. I doubt it will be cool enough for a sweater. Maybe a light sweater. Or a shawl. I will be at the bloggers meet-up at 1 pm both days. Email me if you want a cell number for either Gryphon or myself. I hope I get to meet you there.
