Caring for Your Introvert…

Posted on March 11, 2006 by Christine | 9 Comments

Sometimes people find it hard to believe, but I really am an extroverted introvert. My Myers-Briggs profile even says so – I am an ENFP, but I sit right on the line that divides the extroverts from the introverts. This article accurate describes the way you should be Caring for Your Introvert. It hits the nail on the head; “introverts are people who find other people tiring … after an hour or two of being socially “on,” we introverts need to turn off and recharge.”

So next time you think someone is being aloof or a snob, take a moment to realize that maybe they are just an introvert and need some recharge time. Give them a chance, they will come around. As for me, I’m just happy that I found an extrovert who is willing to understand and take care of my introvert needs.

I’m a bit of an extroverted introvert myself – if I’m around my friends my extrovert self comes out, but around strangers the introvert is dominant. Perhaps this is why I like my alone time so much!

I took the Meyer-Briggs test once…but can’t remember what came out of it anymore.

can’t sleep…It’s almost 2 a.m. here in Munich (I’m just too anxious about the flight)….and I’m sitting here drinking tea (thrown out of bed by my bf). Anyway, second pair of Kolenya finished and will be blogged tomorrow when I take a break from packing. Tragedy striked my JayWalker…I’ll blog about it tomorrow, too. ;)

Hope to be able to download the next episode tomorrow before packing my laptop away.

You and I are alike in our Myers-Briggs scores, and I am also right on the border of E/I. I didn’t understand that for years. I thought there was something wrong with me, that I would get so overwhelmed when there were a lot of people, or if I couldn’t get away from them for a bit.

So true. As an ISTJ I like being around people, but then I gotta have a lot of down time to compensate. Hmm, why did I have three kids again?

I’m an ESFJ, but always right on the E/I cusp, although almost always on the E side. I love being around people, but I definitely need alone time.

I remember taking that test and like you I am a borderline extro/introvert too! Thank you for the link to that article, I’m already spreading it wide and far among my introverts. Now I no longer have to justify not wanting to go out to party with the guys when I’d really rather be sitting at home!
