Crunchy Cookies…

Posted on December 23, 2004 by Christine | 11 Comments

Mike & Jason made the snickerdoodles while I was out Christmas shopping, so today we decided to put our new cookie press to work and make some almond spritz cookies. Followed all of the instructions, set the oven to 400 degrees like the recipe called for, decorated them with some red and green sugar …

and then burnt the shit out of them while they baked.

I don’t think I’ve ever burnt cookies. I’m still in shock. I think the oven temp is off, and Williams-Sonoma is nuts if they think they need to cook for 10 minutes. I finally made a batch that didn’t burn by turning the oven down to 350 and only baking them for 6 minutes.

Next up? Fantasy Fudge, Peppermint Bark, and some vanilla spritz cookies. Mmmmmm…

Would anyone like some burnt Christmas trees? Anyone?

You might try an oven thermometer to check your temp. I think your oven runs hot…

Yeah, already on the list of things to pick up. Although we have never burnt anything in it before. *sigh*

I’ve never not burned cookies! Domestic goddess I am not!

How ’bout you guys tie a string around them and put them on your Christmas tree?

That would be good, if they weren’t so burnt. *giggle* They would look really sad on the tree!

my house came with 2 ovens; the top one runs about 35 degrees hot, so i’ve learned to adjust. you’ll find oven thermometers in the grocery, the department stores, etc.

as to the cookies, feed them to your dog. they love burned stuff. at least, mine never complained.

Unfortunately, no dog – and the cats turn their nose up to burnt cookies. Oh well…

I love snickerdoodles. I don’t think I have had them in three years. Burt or not.

I’d never had a snickerdoodle until a month or so ago when Boy’s mom made some. I didn’t even know what one was.
