Sleep Would Be a Good Thing…

The Simon & Garfunkel concert last night was great. Fabulous, to be exact. It was definitely an interesting crowd – the place was packed and I think that all of Houston’s 45-70 crowd was there. When I went to see Radiohead last fall, I was all but strip searched. Last night? Yeah, a little different – they were just checking bags. Nothing more. Amusing contrast.

Once we finally got home, I had to finish laundry so that we could pack. No big deal, right? Ugh. I don’t know why, but I get in to some bizarre mode whenever I travel. It’s not that I overpack (normally), but that I become convinced that I left something behind, something that I absolutely must have. I’m going to Minneapolis. Within the United States. They have anything and everything for sale there that I might need. If I forget something that is really important, I can just buy another one. Not a problem for most people, but it is for me. And I know it. I realize I don’t need to worry about it. I even tried to reassure myself last night, but no luck. I was awake until 6:30 am, when I simply reached the point that I couldn’t function anymore.

Now that I am at the airport, it doesn’t stress me out so much. If I forgot something, I forgot it. Too late now. So why do I worry so much the night before every trip? Does everyone do this, or is it just me?

All I know is that I could really use some more sleep right now. 2 hours just wasn’t long enough.

I’m obsessed about doing laundry before a trip, but only because the house has to be spotless upon return. If I open the door and see a mess, I’m afraid I’ll turn around and leave again.

My family gets mad at me for not bringing anything on a trip. I guess extremes on either end aren’t good.

Hope you have a good flight.

WaaaaH! Simon and Garfunkel – wow! I took my mum to see Paul Simon for her 50th – she bought the S&G double LP the day before i Was born, and I was brought up knowing all the words by heart. I REALLY wanted to see S&G here in London, but the dates clashed with a family holiday :( I am glad you enjoyed it – it sounds awesome!

Have a safe trip :) Glad someone else finds desperate ways to blog when on the move ;) Makes me feel less mad!

I am the exact opposite. I never worry about whether I have forgotten anything, but I always have. I guess somewhere between you and me, there is a person who remembers everything and doesn’t worry about it. (Of course, there’s also that person’s evil twin, who worries all night and then forgets everything anyway.)

You mean there was an S&G concert and I missed out!
For two years, I had to listen to them before (and after) every test or exam I wrote!
    Lucky you!
