TiVo, TiVo, TIVO!!!

Posted on May 13, 2004 by Christine | 8 Comments

I love, love, LOVE my TiVo! They have given those of us with a Series 2 Tivo a 1 month free trial of the Home Media Option! We had talked about buying it after the wedding, so now we can take it for a test spin before we buy! How fabulous is that?

We already had WiFi set up for the TiVo, so now I just need to download the desktop software. One question though … our TiVo only “checks in” once a day. If I am using the remote scheduling, I want it to check for updates at least once an hour, if not more. I know it can be done because it has been mentioned in the PVR Blog, but I have no idea how to do it. Anyone know how? Care to walk me through it?

I’m anxiously awaiting the answer to this. Also, any word on the lotions and soaps? ;-)

I want tivo so bad it hurts. I feel like every day I read about some one else that has it. Pretty soon I’m going to start looking like Wally The Green Monster. I so need to just suck it up and get myself a tivo.

I don’t know if you have to change anything to get the remote scheduling to work. Supposedly as long as you schedule it within an hour of the show start time, it should record. I played around a bit with the free option last time it was offered, although I forgot to try out the remote scheduling, but according to their site, if you are on the WiFi it automatically checks every hour.

C – Take a look at the HMO forum over at the Tivo forums.

A while back, they had a “try the HMO option for free!” promotion on the Tivo. We signed up and they were supposed to add it one day and take it away about two weeks later.

It’s been MONTHS and months and our Home Media Option is still working. I’m certainly not going to tell them about it though.

I’m on WiFi, and I know it doesn’t check it once an hour. It’s once a day. I’m using the free “Try Home Media Option” right now, and I’m looooving it. Now if I could just get the Tivo to check in more often! (I’ll have to find time to hunt through the forums!)

I’m testing the remote scheduling thing today. I called tivo last night to inquire about purchasing the HMO. They told me I couldn’t buy it until after the free trial was over. But! But! There’s no multi-room veiwing with the free trial. After telling them that was the only reason I bought a second tivo in the first place they added it to my free trial. Weeeee! Multi-room for FREE!
