I Am the Dancing Queen…

A few weeks ago I came across a CD for sale at the local Half Price Books. It was “The Best of Disco” and it was full of 21 wonderful disco hits. 21 of the best sounds of the era. It is awesome, and I love it.

So last Sunday night, I finally decide to listen to it. I was still sick as a dog, but somewhere between “That’s the way … uh huh uh huh … I like it” and “Play That Funky Music,” I got the brilliant idea to get down and get funky. I just could not help but dance. I was the Dancing Queen …

And the next day? I was in agony. Matter of fact, for the next three or four days, I could barely use my left leg. I looked like I was dragging a stump along behind me as I walked. At first I could not figure out for the life of me what I had done. “Oh, I must have just slept funny last night” was the answer I gave all of my co-workers.

On Tuesday I listened to the CD again, and it became obvious what I had done. I had a Disco Injury. The shame! The horror! At first I decided I wasn’t going to tell anyone. But I had to – I mean, come on. Who injuries themself doing the stylin’ John Travolta moves? Only I could manage to do that.

I am the Dancing Queen, and that’s the way … uh huh uh huh … I like it …

*ahem* You told me that you had no idea how you’d hurt your ankle. ;-) Hey, at least it’s an honorable injury!

Hope your ankle feels better ASAP.

I can relate, sort of~my last disco injury was back in 1978.

    *smirk*

Hope you feel better, and at least you weren’t break dancing…

That’s nothing. HoBiscuit once got a shuffleboard related injury. Sprained her butt, she did. I mean honestly, how out of shape does one need to be in order to hurt oneself playing a game mummified grandparents can play for hours on end without getting hurt, or even tired? Sheesh, and then she got mad at me for laughing at her!

There’s no justice, I tell ya’.

I’m not trying to make anyone feel old, but ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ was the #1 single at Billboard when my wife was born.

Christine, I hope you don’t make it into the 80′s with your recent “dancing through the decades” meanderings, or you’ll give new meaning to the term, “breakdancing!”

Actually – my right ankle (and entire right leg) hurts thanks to what has now been diagnosed as an inflamed sciatic nerve. Non-disco related, thanks to sleeping in the chair in my living room. I get to have a MRI and an anterior and venous doppler on Saturday morning to make sure there isn’t anything worse.

I guess my dancing days are over for right now…
