The Rest of the Story…

I’ve seen all over the place the news that Orrin Hatch wants to trash illegal downloaders’ PCs by blowing them up. (Michael Buffington’s being the most recent.) I haven’t seen as many people take note of the majorly ironic twist. The fact that, as Laurence Simon has pointed out, Senator Hatch’s site uses pirated software. [Via Mike.]
Irony at it’s best. It makes me proud to say that I met Laurence in person (finally!) last night at the Lager Rhythms show. Photographic evidence to be added to this post later.

Well, I thought the ironic twist was a bit of non-news … particularly since he’s not really the one in charge of the development of his site and now that the “software” in question is legally licensed.

This was on the screen savers the other day. Apparently shortly after he was exposed, the website met the agreements of the javascript software used. Something like that.
Not that I agree with piracy or MP3s or whatnot, but I don’t really see the economy suffering because of them. The only reason politicians even bring the subject up is because the big companies are so against it and they want the big companies’ backs. I’m sure most politicians have absolutely NO idea what they’re saying when they start talking about illegal downloading, piracy, etc.

Ha! Typical Orrin Hatch. Can’t wait until we can throw that dusty old fart out of office in four years. He’s been in the Senate for more than 30 years. Time to level Uncle Orrin!
