Luscious Lomo Wannabe…
Posted on May 9, 2003 by Christine | 13 Comments
I got Photoshop installed and after beating my head against the wall and re-reading an e-mail from Jennifer three times I figured out how to load an action. From there, I Lomo-ized photos. Here are some before and after shots:
I followed the written instructions on the McDonald photo. I used the “Lomo Normal” action on the butterfly photo. Being a total Photoshop rookie, using the action was much easier!

It’s funny: I actually own a Russian Lomo camera, which is where this type of picture actually originated. I just wish I knew where I put the damned thing!

Yeah, I would love to own a Lomo LC-A, but I’m too cheap to buy one. (I have a Lomo Lubitel camera, but not the LC-A.) I wish I had one … maybe someday.
Now I can truly make my G-2 do *anything* though!

Hehe, very nice!
Now that you have Photoshop, there’s a lot of other great things you can do to improve your photos as well! (that aren’t even considered cheating!)

Greaaaaat… so you mean it’s going to take me even longer to finally get photos online?
First thing, I need to figure out how to measure things so I can make my 50×50 pixel thumbnails, and then how to add white borders to things… For now, Paint Shop Pro is still in use!

Haha, feel free to ask me questions whenever you have them – I’ll send you an email with tips on how to do what you just mentioned.
Oh, what version do you have? (Depending on the version, there are slightly different ways of doing things.

so, um … people LIKE the way the lomo photos look? interesting.
call me crazy, but the colors look off, it looks a little blurrier, and i don’t really like the ring around the picture.

I like effects. Photoshop is fun.

See, I’m the opposite of tj. I think they’re beautiful. More vibrant. They draw more attention to the center of the photo, which is usually what you’re trying to do anyway.
Nice work. Thanks for the link. I’ll have to check that out.

I just posted my first “Lomoized” photo over at Pixelog. It was a shot that was plain jane and ho-hum before, sitting in my “never posted” folder. Then I Lomoized it, and I love the results. I won’t do it on everything, but I’m sure I’ll do it more often!

It’s close, but no ceeeegar to the type of color saturation mine produced first-try. Can’t wait to see the second batch we shot this weekend to see if the first time was a fluke. Love the butterfly shot (before and after).
