Almost Caught Up…

Posted on December 5, 2002 by Christine | 13 Comments

I realized tonight that I had episodes of “The Amazing Race” on Tivo that went all the way back to October 30th, so it was time to clear them off! So now I’ve watched up to last week, but I am going to bed instead of watching tonight’s two hour episode. Hello? I don’t have a job – I can watch it during the day tomorrow!

I am not doing my usual full post about all the little details of each episode thanks to the fact that I’m writing this on the PC in Jason’s room instead of on a laptop in front of the TV. However, I do still have some thoughts to share:

:: Flo is a pain in the ass. Hello? Could she complain any more? Poor Zach. Why does he put up with it? And what’s up with his hair?

:: The Wonder Twins have grown on me. I hated them in the beginning – how can you like someone that every episode has “Twins/Models” under their name? But they are getting better and legitimately hanging in there.

:: I think Ken & Gerard are my favorite team. Of course, if you’ve watched TAR a lot, you know that this can change from one week to another.

:: Jill & John Vito are also growing on me. His name still bugs me though. I’m sorry, I just can’t deny it.

:: Teri & Ian. Oy. Ugh. Oy. She whines almost as much as Flo, and Ian is just a bastard. Could he be more mean? “Hump it, Teri! Hump it!” I think I would have volunteered to do the archery shot in Grindelwald and accidentally shot HIM if I was her.

:: Can I just say that I *LOVE* when they are in places that I have visited? Munich. Neuschwanstein. Fussen. Grindelwald. *sigh* Can we please go to Germany? Someone? Anyone? It’s the perfect time of the year for the Christmas Markets (Christkindlesmarkt in Nuernberg would work) and some gluhwein. Yum, yum! (Recipe below from another site.)

:: What about the 911 boys? Dude, can you believe what they did? I mean … really? Damn. (Yes, this sentence is intentionally cryptic so I don’t spoil it for anyone.)

More tomorrow – I have two more hours of TAR to watch, and I can’t wait!

Gluhwein
1 bottle of red table wine
1/4 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
lemon and orange peel

Boil all ingredients together except the wine and reduce by half.
Strain and add the wine.
Bring the mixture almost to the boiling point.
Serve hot. Enjoy with lots of friends.

Germany sounds like a good vacation right now. or any tour in Europe.

Maybe one day I will be fortunate enough to go.

I waffle between hating and liking Teri and Ian… but I HATE flo. HATE HATE HATE. Poor Zach. Ken and Gerard are definitely my favorites… but at this point, I feel bad no matter who loses. I did like John Vito and Jill, I was sad to see them go.

Katie: She hadn’t seen that episode yet! ;) That said, I DESPISE Ian and I just pity Teri … I don’t particularly care either way for the twins, though that’s a better position than my original. (I hated them and thought they were idiots … I still think they’re pretty dumb, but lucky now.) I used to like Flo and Zach … now Flo just pisses me off. Zach is awesome, though – he’s so nice and cheery! Ken and Gerard crack me up, too – John and Jill are probably my fave team left, though. :\ So yeah …

Oh, wow. I went to Koeln for Christmas two years ago, and the Weinachstmarkt was awesome. I had totally forgotten about it (probably so I wouldn’t impulse-buy a ticket…heh) until I read this. A nice Thueringerwurst and a cup of Gluhwein…that’s all I want. Mmmmm.

Michelle: I’m with you! My family went to Germany 3 years ago for Christmas and I’d forgotten about the Chirstmas markets and gluhwein. We tried to replicate it back home, but it just wasn’t the same. Thanks for bringing back those memories! :)

    Hi Christine- love your blog.
My boyfriend was born in Germany and makes the best Gluhwein!
Don’t bother straining it though- you strain it through your teeth, the cloves and cinnamon make it better and as it simmers it enriches- hehe- I’m talking about it like a fine wine. He also puts thin slices of oranges in it. Those slices taste great when the Gluhwein is finished. It is still good days after refrigerted and reheated- makes me wish for winter- it is 35dec C here- almost 100F.

I’m just happy that TAR3 finally made it out of Europe. Can’t believe team 911 and their experiences. I know Flo is a whiner. A BIG whiner, but I’m really digging her and her little flirtation with Drew. I don’t want Teri & Ian to win just because of Ian. And O Brother (I love that nickname) is just a blast to watch, especially when they hit the mat and heckle Phil.

Teri and Ian – hated them at first, but now I am rooting for them, whatsupwitdat? He still bugs and I hate how he talks to Teri but, they make it work (hate his hat tho – what is it about TAR and ugly hats?)

But all in all, I like the BaldBrothers. There is something about bald guys and TAR that I just can’t explain.

Flo is just plain stupid and isiotic. Whine, Whine, Whine, Whine. I rEALLY DONT KNOW HOW ZACH DEALS WITH MISS WE’LL-LOSE-ANYWAY-SO-WHY-BOTHER. I’d love to give this ungrateful, whin, childish, immature, pain in the neck, disloyal Flo a good slap in the face.

Zach should just slap Flo. What kind of friend has she been, whining, crying, flirting with other teammates and leaving him alone in the car…..She has done nothing but allowed herself to be dragged around by Zach. I see Flo as an unnescessary burden on Zach’s shoulders. This isn’t a team ! Flo doesn’t deserve to win, that whiner.
