Austin Oberservation…

Reading Big Fat Blog reminded me of something I observed in Austin while out at Polly Esthers. They are more excepting of the non-twig women. The ones with curvy figures. Here in Houston, any time I go to any club I feel ignored because I am not a size 2 and never will be. It’s quite demeaning. In Austin though, I noticed many other women my size (that would be somewhere between a 12 & a 16 depending on the brand of clothes) and larger who were being hit on, flirted with, and picked up. I felt like it was ok to be me. It was a good feeling, and reminded me once again why I am not a big fan of Houston.

It is ok to be you! I am 5′ 10″ and wear a size 22, and I used to be married to a man who was forever bugging me to lose weight and be one of those *toothpicks*. I’m actually quite happy with myself the way I am, so he hit the road…such is life.
But I can tell you that men DO like us *curvier* girls…I am happily re-married, and he loves and accepts me as I am. In fact, he says he is turned off by the *toothpick* girls.
The majority of women in this country are size 12 and over. We are strong, healthy, and smart. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!

I like me, I hate the mentality of many men around Houston. Of course I want to move out of Houston so it really makes no sense to date someone here anyways!
And D – thank you! Exactly. Sophie Dahl ROCKS. I’m not 6′ tall, but her figure is a lot like mine … I’m just shorter!

Screw Houston. I hated it so much there it took me only three months to flee, screaming with arms flailing wildly.
You know, some girls don’t like guys with shaved heads and to them I say, “Darlin’, you don’t know what you’re missing…”
Well, actually, I just *think* that to myself as they turn to their friends and laugh at me as I try desperately to slink into a different dimension. But that’s kind of off topic, dontcha think?
Point being: You are extremely witty, intelligent AND beautiful. There are enough people who will love you exactly the way you are, so there’s no reason to pay any attention at all to the people who won’t…
