You take the good… you take the bad…
ABC plans “Facts of Life” reunion Whoo hoo! First 90210 is on, and now this!
Yummmmmm… that pizza was tasty! Now I am watching “Leap Years” as I finish up my blog run.
Analyzing Life - loving the “Where’s Waldo” look. I wonder if a framed design like that would work with my skins. Probably not.
My “Friday Five” on Sunday… (found on Analyzing Life from Smattering.org)
1. Laying on your back and facing the ceiling, which side of the bed do you sleep on?
The right side
2. Do you have to have covers (blankets and/or sheets) at all costs, no matter the weather?
I always have to have at least a light blanket. I can’t sleep with just sheets. I have been known to kick the covers off in my sleep, but I can’t fall asleep without them.
3. Sleep nekkid or no? Why?
Nope, just in case my son would come in in the morning. I prefer to sleep naked though, but don’t.
4. What’s under your bed?
Dust Bunnies, large pictures in frames, and I am sure there are some lost items waiting to be found under there…
5. If you have pets, do you let them sleep with you? Why or why not?
Mona sleeps on the left side of my bed most of the time. Murphy sneaks in and sleeps at the bottom of the bed if she doesn’t chase him off, otherwise he sleeps on the floor.
*smacks self on the forehead* - I just figured out who Around We Go… is, since she moved the site back to her domain. I didn’t know until tonight. Hehehe! She had me totally fooled.
Forgot to mention earlier that Sabby told me long ago that she had a hard time getting her Sims to have a baby. Jason played “The Sims” yesterday for about an hour and then came out and told me that his Sims had had a baby. Too funny. Later a kidnapper came along and snatched it though. Oops! Good thing because he didn’t feed his Sims and the parents starved to death! He sure was having fun…
After checking out Bluezfire I want to go to Tennessee. How beautiful. It’s funny that those menu bars are popping up all over lately. I had considered using one, but was afraid that it wouldn’t work well with the skins, so I haven’t added it. I think I have figured out a way though… Hmmm. We’ll see.
Happy belated birthday to Brooke! Loving the new design there too! Everyone seems to be making changes lately!
Fat Seanny rocks. Just an FYI.
I keep forgetting to tell DJ Wudi that I have been to the offices of Carbon Nanotechnoligies, Inc. (CNI) here in Houston. The company co-founded by Richard Smalley, the Nobel Prize-winning Rice professor. There was an article about them in Friday’s Houston Chronicle. I have even held a tiny jar full of nanotubes. It was COOL. They are one of our web design clients. Neato, huh?
Poodle Circus is now closed for Grey Day. I forgot that it was Grey Day. If I wasn’t afraid of messing with Greymatter, I would put up a grey day page myself. Please remember to respect copyright.
Have to say I agreed with Angela on being disappointed on how a pregnancy such as Rachel’s on Friends is celebrated, even though she is not married or even dating someone. Sad, very sad. Angela is not the only conservative one around here. I will admit I would prefer to see her keep the baby rather than have an abortion, and that every baby should be celebrated. I liked that Monica was pointing out all the reasons why it isn’t a good idea to her before she realized it was Rachel that was really pregnant. It will be interesting to see how they handle it this season.
Whew. That has been a lot of running. I am done for the night. I need to get some e-mails out, finish up a minor thing for work and then get to bed!
I have been pretty busy at work, and tired when I get home. Sometimes I don’t even turn on the computer. I do make sure once a week I run through all those links over there on the side. I put them there because I like ‘em after all! So here are some comments while running through them:
James seems to be posting again, although not often enough for my happiness! I hope they get their DSL on October 11th. Note to self: James’ birthday is 10/10.
Bona Fide Cynic: A Journalog has a lovely new look. Well, lovely in IE, and I don’t use Netscape so who cares about those users? LMAO… JUST KIDDING!!! Couldn’t resist.
Julie’s site is also sporting a lovely patriotic look! Hope she gets over that flu bug soon. It sucks to be sick. Thanks to Julie posting that she is now a member of Pixelitas, I went to their site … and found a link to Deed, who used to be a member of a mom’s group online with me. We lost touch after her son Seth was born, and I have changed e-mail addresses since then… so now I have to write to her! It’s probably been over 2 years since we have talked, so it is pretty cool to have found her like this!
A Boy and His Computer has a great list of “Ten proposed new laws for this crisis”. Personally, I like … oh heck, they all totally crack me up. Go read his September 28th post.
There are new Bunny Tales. Dating sucks. If you are married, have a good laugh at the expense of those of us who have to deal with this crap.
Hilary, screw Frontpage. HTML for real is where it’s at. If nothing else, use Greymatter which would help you update. I could leave comments then too (which makes me gleefully happy!) And yes, for the sake of annoying all the squimish people out there, you should have whipped it out and started nursing right there in line. Hehehe. From one breastfeeding mom to another, I totally related to that story.
Thanks to Pamela, I found Romeo and Juliet: Peeps Style. Too funny, but not as funny as Shakespeare for the L33t. What is a Peep you ask? Those little marshmallow bird things that come all lined up in a tray at Easter time. Covered with some candy goodness, sure to send you into a sugar coma. As always, Pamela has many other hysterical posts too. People in Austin rock. And thanks to her link, after I finish posting I am going to go download Mailwasher. I want to be able to BOUNCE the e-mail I don’t want. Maybe that will end some of my spam!
I hadn’t mentioned it before, but for Banned Books Week MizDos did many wonderful commentary writings on the books. I have enjoyed reading them.
I finally remembered to move the link that was Graphically-Virtual to Sweet August Dreams.
Have I mentioned lately how adorable Mar’s latest design is? Yeah, ok, just wanted to make sure I pointed that out.
Kim is back online. Yeah!
Dawn sure does work close to the Sears Tower! Her post with pictures (September 25th) made me miss Chicago. I never lived there, and haven’t visited since I was about 15, but I sure do miss it. I want to go back. And go to the top of the Sears Tower. Soon. And how did I miss her Shoebox before? Full of all the juicy stuff I am too busy to read in the magazines??? Cooooool… What a great idea!
I hope Kelly finds a way to get out of her funk. I remember moving to Killeen and not having a job and so forth - I almost went stir crazy sitting in the house, and … ugh. It just sucked. Going to Germany was frustrating at first too. So positive thoughts go out to Kelly…
I just have to say I miss Nicole’s blog. *pouts* But I have been reading her journal and on a positive note hopefully we will get together at the Ren Fest next month - that would be SO cool. Mar, we don’t have accents, YOU DO! Hehehe … sorry, couldn’t resist!
Melissa has opened her Cocktail Lounge. I am pretty much a Margarita girl myself, loyal to Jose Cuervo. Why? Because he doesn’t hang around and kick my ass the next day. No hangovers with Cuervo. Wine? That stuff makes me miserable.
I use IE, but lately I haven’t been able to scroll Jo’s blog. Is it just me?
Sometimes I… has a cool redesign too. Reminding me I need to wrap up & send Erika’s Freshly Made design on to her.
Stefani’s 2 year wedding anniversary is Tuesday, October 2nd, along with her first baby appointment. Best wishes to all 3 of them! *grin*
Swallowing Tacks is now “Silly Cow”. Move made on the links list.
Naomi is blogging. Yeah!!! It’s like a wonderful birthday present for me in an odd way, really, it is. I don’t get to see her as often as I would like to, and I love her to pieces, so it’s nice to be able to read her site. She is always finding cool stuff on the web, so I look forward to seeing more of it posted there.
If I ever wonder about my own sanity, reading Tracy’s site makes me realize that I am as sane and freakin’ boring as they come. On the other hand, her description of the “Borderline” personality made me think of my Mom. Sad, and true. Not all of it, but parts. And people wonder why we don’t get along.
Thought of Sabby the other night when I watched Law & Order: SVU. Tonight I tivo’d the new Criminal Intent show. I’ll watch it in just a little bit.
I loved seeing Sherry’s ultrasound picture of the HoneyBun. That was the best thing about being pregnant in Germany, I got to have ultrasounds at every visit! The last 2 months of my pregnancy I was back in the States and only got to have 1 ultrasound. I missed having them all the time!
Off to eat my tasty Papa John’s Pizza that just arrived. Yummmmmm…
I have a confession. I love watching Beverly Hills 90210. It looks like a bunch of great episodes are coming up on FX Networks. (Found thanks to Kim) I think I will have to clean off the Tivo and start recording them! I hope I have that channel… hmmmm…
My e-mail is finally giving me old messages. I don’t know what’s up with it, why it has hidden messages from me. Strange. But now it has let me see them, and I got to check out Kathy’s new site (well, not that new now but new to me) at waterlily.nu. Yeah!
Al Qaeda to cut at least 5,000 jobs (found thanks to Keith) Now those are layoffs that would make me happy!
For all you nervous stock-watchers, a bit of advice on how to play the market….
If you bought $1000 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.
If you bought $1000 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock), one year ago — drank all the beer, and traded in the cans for the nickel deposit — you would have $79.
My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.
(Yet another e-mail sent to me by my Dad. He cracks me up.)
I wanted to post a “pacifier” comment on Jennifer’s blog, but the comments aren’t working. And there is no e-mail address link on her site. So Jennifer, if you read this, I tried posting comments on 2 entries and they didn’t post. Just thought I would let you know!
I watched The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc yesterday. I am not sure what I thought of it. It was, well, strange. It was good in some ways, although I really could have lived without the scenes of the heads being lobbed off of bodies front and center on my TV. Ick. And the twist at the end with Dustin Hoffman … guess I have a little higher regard for Joan of Arc then that. They made her look like a complete nut case. Who knows, maybe that was truly the case. Well, it was worth a few hours on Tivo (i.e., for free) on a Saturday afternoon while I cleaned out boxes.
I stumbled across this on Thursday, but didn’t blog it at the time - instead I just pur a shortcut on my desktop. Bin Laden and Bush chat on AIM (spoof). I have to agree with Naomi, it totally cracked me up. It reminded me so much of Shakespeare for the L33t. It just amused me.
I fell asleep and missed the last part of Saturday Night Live last night. I am so annoyed. Ugh. I was going to Tivo it, and then I decided that I would just watch it live. So what do I do? Fall asleep on the couch. Grrrr… what a bummer! Well, I guess I will have to catch it in re-runs or something. *sigh* That just won’t be the same though.
The Weekend Update on SNL rocks as always! I love Tina Fey! I wish I could find glasses like hers. Up for the slam tonight: the movie “Glitter”, Michael Jordan’s return to basketball and the change in the Nike logo plus his own special flavor of Gatorade - Prune! Bob Dole and Viagra. The Nostradomus spoof. Don King. Jesse Jackson and his possible meeting with the Taliban. Jerry Van Dyke. Elton John. The final story? How to donate to the “Twin Towers Fund”. Yeah for SNL! What a great show this has been!
Straight from Snopes.com, the article about the rescue workers being charged $130 for 3 cases of water. “I would think that in a crisis such as this, vendors in the area would be more than happy to lend a little help by donating water. Well, not Starbucks! As if this country hasn’t given them enough money!” (Link found thanks to Robyn.)
Man, A&M romped on Notre Dame today. I hope Melissa won’t hate me too much since the Longhorns won… (not to mention I didn’t watch the game, just caught the highlights on the news.)
Maybe they should consider using this commercial, featuring the SNL guys skateboarding on a ramp, and they start talking about how they have Hemmorhoids. Singing “My rectum, my rectum, my rectum’s on fire…” Preparation H, in wacked out cream or jiggity jiggity jelly! I bet the H sales would go through the roof!
